  • World Telecom and ICT Indicators Symposium is taking place in Tunisia

    From 14th to 16th of November, 2017, Republic of Tunisia hosts the 15th Symposium on World Telecommunication / ICT Indicators (WTIS). The forum is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The staff of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan is representing delegation of Uzbekistan in this forum.
     
    During WTIS the new ITU report on measuring the Information Society will be unveiled. This report contains the results of the latest ICT Development Index (IDI), the leading global index that establishes the level of ICT development in more than 190 countries. During the Symposium the ITU report for 2017 was announced and according to the new ranking Uzbekistan climbed 15 positions higher in the ICT development index and took 95th place among 192 countries and was recognized as the most dynamically developing country in the field of ICT.
     
    Since 1996 year as the main global forum for measuring telecommunications and the information society the forum unites state ministers, business leaders, representatives of regulatory bodies, representatives of national statistical offices, leading scientists, as well as producers and analysts of ICT data from all parts of the world. 
     
    WTIS this year discusses the issues related to the current trends in the information society including  artificial intelligence, large data, cloud computing and the Internet of things. Participants will be able to attend a series of presentations, training sessions and express talks on data visualization and tools for analyzing large data, collective data collection, next-generation networks and tracking the digital economy. According to these discussions ITU provides strategic guidance for the priorities of future plan.
